I was told we live in the "information age" and I realize there is a lot of information on the internet, but how does it affect me in my business? Here is a tip that will help you, read this article.



Online marketing. Is it a roller coaster

Most businesses are now using the Internet to advertise their products and services. The first thing we do before we buy, we check it out on the "web" – most people do. It is slowly replacing other forms of advertising. I was told in a survey that today’s children will read a newspaper maybe, yes maybe once a month. That places newspaper companies on a roller coaster. They want to know this; how do we reach "tomorrows adults" in future. The world is changing and is changing rapidly, especially the systems on the internet.



Sophistication and complexity of Google.

I entered into my online business during 2009 that was heavily depended on the Google "Pay-per-Click" (PPC) method. It was already sophisticated and complex at that time, but I spent a lot more time learning and attending live webinar training to grasp the system. Some technical items were beyond my grasp and I had to ask for help. I endured until I understood the one or two online programs. New features were added, which meant more learning and more webinars. I got slapped by Google and climbed down from my "Throne of Knowledge" – I just got the system in my head. Where to now? My business stopped.



Social Media.

I was told the new "Social Media" took over, so it is back to the drawing board. I found myself spending more time learning and attending training than doing my marketing to reach virtual partners to join me.



Drowning, what now.

I could sense that I am falling behind, I felt I am drowning. Before I could fully understand the new system changes were already introduced that needed more training. I had to unlearn what was taught before on Google Adwords. More and more systems appeared on the market. Blogs, Websites, Video, Twitter, MySpace, Squidoo, Linked-In and Facebook all were regarded as a vehicle to use to promote products. Then "Aurto-Responders" came on the scene. Stop the world I want to get off.



Methodology changed

Then the real shocker of all shockers, the whole marketing arena changed. Instead of promoting your product or service, I was told to promote myself – "Self-branding, which means people do not just buy products they follow a LEADER to see what the leader recommend, then they opt-in and buy. A new system had to be invented a "Capture-Page" to build your list. HTML coding (programming) was the stumbling block. Without an opt-in box, you will have no followers, so again it became compulsory learning.



New MLM products were introduced, my multivitamin product is getting old hat. New pay plans came into existence. When will it ever stop? Stop the world I want to get off.



Mentors are vital.

Fortunately there are some excellent leaders and mentors that one can follow and depend on.

I followed the advice of Ryan Yokome who recommended that to stop jumping form program to program and system to system, but rather pick an advertising system (blogging, video, list-builders, Facebook,) that you feel comfortable with and learn it till it comes out of your ear. Master it one step at a time.

TIP of the year.

Once you feel you’ve learned something small, then: Take what you’ve learned and apply it as quickly as possible. Absorbing information feels great, but it doesn't change our results. Train your mind to apply even if you don't fully understand everything. You'll learn in the process.

Specialist.

When you have your own online home-based business, MLM or Network Marketing or Direct Sales that depends on you to generate income then this advice will be like gold nuggets flowing to you by the thousands. Learn and apply, learn and apply. Become a Master and move on to more sophisticated systems, it is never ending. Never feel overwhelmed or get drowned in many things. Spend a laser focused day on any challenge that you may encounter, break it into pieces, look at all the aspects then you will become a specialist in more and more changes and systems in future.
